Speculation: Some say he is the son of Colbert Woodyard Mason and Margaret Rogers. Colbert Woodyard Mason (b. 1766 in Charles County, Maryland), the illegitimate son of Mary Woodyard.
Others say he is son of William Mason, supposedly the son of George Mason III and Ann Thomson, although there is no documentation of this that I am aware of. According to the genealogy site associated with Gunston Hall, George Mason III only had two sons, George IV of Gunston Hall, and Thomson. So we decided to have the DNA test done to see if we could determine the validity of our possible connection with the the George Mason line. If it shows we are not related to this line, then perhaps it will indicate who our Mason ancestors might have been.
