Oldest Known Ancestor

Elijah Mason came from either VA or NC. He then moved to Garrard Co., KY and ended up in Orange and Crawford Counties in Indiana. We think he was married to Lydia Cane.
Most of our Masons remained in southern Indiana and were farmers. I have not been able to identify the parents of Elijah Mason, so we decided to participate in Y-dna testing in hopes of finding a match with another Mason who may have been a sibling of Elijah Mason. There is a story from the historian of Crawford Co., Indiana that our Elijah fought in the Revolutionary War, but I have searched all the archives and have not found this particular Elijah in any records.
