Oldest Known Ancestor

James Mason1 (b. ca. 1740 d. ca. 1779) married Mary Broderick, Northern Neck, Stafford County VA -- pedigree by Karen Dale
Broderick Mason2 (b. 176?) VA, married ?
James Mason2
John Mason2
Elizabeth Mason2
Sarah Mason2
Francis Mason2 (b. 1765 in Culpeper county VA) migrated to Spartanburg, SC, married Ellender _____
James Mason3 (20 Jun 1805-25 Dec. 1863) Spartanburg, SC > GA
James Miles Mason4 (1840 Campbell County, GA-1914 Fulton County, GA)

Although the proof is convoluted, we have a very strong case for James Mason1 (b. ca. 1740 d. ca. 1779) being the oldest known ancestor of the main Spartanburg, SC Mason line. Speculation: There are a number of possibilities for earlier Mason ancestors in Northern Neck, VA, including the Gunston Hall and Aquia Creek families or "George the immigrant".

Note: George Mason I, immigrant, was born at Pershore, Worcestershire, England (52.06.42.26, -2.04.48.34) which lies south of two of Capelli's ydna sample points: Llanidloes, Powys county, Wales? (location 14, 4% E3b) and Uttoxeter, Staffordshire, England (location 13, 5% E3b). Further south, Chippenham, Wiltshire, England (location 20, 0.0% E3b)

Pershore to Uttoxeter = 72.6 miles, Pershore to Llanidloes = 85.2 miles, Pershore to Chippenham = 81.7 miles

Migration
