Oldest Known Ancestor

We were told that our Mason Family consist of European White, Indian, and Black, and we are interested in finding out where our Mason lineage started, and connecting with other relatives if possible. After leaving S.C., my ggrandfather Rev. Julian S. Mason went to Asheville, N.C. with his wife Mary Pierson Mason who was from Winnsboro, S.C., and who died in Asheville, N.C. in March 1917. Julian Mason died in Kansas City, Kansas in 1944, where my grandfather lived.
My mother asked her 1st Cousin C. Mason if he would consent to a dna, since he is the only direct male-male Mason downline. His father John, and my grandfather James were brothers( both deceased ).
I am retired, and look forward to researching.
