On April 4, 1665, a 15-acre tract of land called "Masons Hopyard"
was surveyed for MILES MASON (Pat. L8 F56). The tract was located
on the western side of the Transquaking River. On August 14, 1665,
another tract consisting of 100 acres was surveyed for him and named
"MASON'S VINEYARD." It was located on Chaplins Bay and MASON'S CREEK
(at the head of Tar Bay) ( Pat. L8 F49)

On February 29, 1674, MILES MASON and ANN his wife sold "MASON'S
HOPYARD" to John Rawlins. Rent Roll Record, Liber 10 Folio 451, on
"MASON'S VINEYARD"*** was noted "No heirs appearing, tract supposed
to be taken up by name of 'Hootons Lot' ". (that was no heirs of
Richard Miller)***
see Richard Dawson/John Rawlings...he purchased Mason's hopyard....see
MD archives

On March 6, 1675, Obediah Judkin of Talbot County sold to MILES MASON
of the Cliffs in Patuxent River, planter, 250 acres of Teverton on the
Little Choptank River in Fishing Creek. (DLR 3 OLD 54)
[Cliffs of Patuxent River is Calvert County]
[Patuxent River is Calvert County MD.... ]

On December 6, 1676, MILES MASON made a will which was probated May 2,
1679, in which he left his property to his wife, ANN, and his unborn
child (Wills 10, 20).
Mason, Miles, Dorchester Co., 6th Dec., 1676; 2d May, 1679. To wife
Anne and unborn child, estate, real and personal, including “Teverton.”
Overseers: Jno. Dossey, Jas. Cage. Test: Wm. Dossey, Wm. Thomas. 10. 20.

On September 11, 1749, (Dorchester Land Records 14 OLD 375) two depositions
were taken before Henry Hooper as follows:

"Deposition of ANN TREGOE of Dorchester County, widow, aged about 61 years,
states that SARAH MASON was an orphan in the house of her father PETER STOKES
and was later married to THOMAS SHEHAWNE by Wm. Mishie; and that ANN'S said
father PETER STOKES was reported to have married the mother of said SARAH MASON
who was the widow of MILES MASON."

"Deposition of WILLIAM STOKES aged about 57 years states that his father PETER
STOKES married for his second wife ANN, widow of MILES MASON ; and that said
MILES left one young child named SARAH, who was brought up in said PETER'S house
and was later married to THOMAS SHEHAWNE by William Mishie, a magistrate."
From the above depositions it would appear that MILES MASON had only a daughter,
SARAH, who married THOMAS SHEHAWNE.
The records indicate that MILES MASON made his home at "Teverton" [ Tiverton?]
at the head of Fishing Creek for the few years that he lived in Dorchester County.
