My father, GEORGE DONALD JENKINS was born in Washington March 12, 1890.
His mother was Cynthia Ann WILLIAMS. This is all that I have that is
truly "hard" data. He went into the Army in 1917, and was in France in
1918. I’m not sure where he was inducted, but I believe that it was in
Fordyce, Arkansas. He reenlisted in 1935 and spent the rest of his life
in the military until he retired. He was part of the 206th Coast Artillery
that was sent to Dutch Harbor, Alaska in 1940. After Pearl Harbor he was
sent to Camp Callan (near San Diego, CA) and in 1944 was sent to Fort Bliss,
Texas. He died December 12, 1954 and is buried in the Fort Bliss Military
Cemetery. His rank was MSgt. from 1935 until his retirement.
If you have any other records about Beaufort military service that might
mention my father I would be very interested.
